  • 4 g (1 tsp) baking powder

  • 170 g (1½ sticks / ¾ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 54 g (â…“ cup) Christmas jimmies sprinkles
  • 283 g (1¼ bricks / 10 oz) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 184 g (13 Tbsp) salted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • â…› tsp salt
  • 150 g (1¼ cups) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 80 ml (â…“ cup) cold heavy cream
  • 24 g (2 Tbsp) Christmas sprinkles (jimmies, nonpareils, trees, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line 2-3 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 1-2 minutes).
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until combined (about 30 seconds).
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Fold in the Christmas jimmies sprinkles.
  7. Use a 3-tablespoon cookie scoop to portion the dough, roll into balls, and place on baking sheets, flattening each slightly.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are set.
  9. Let the cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth; add vanilla extract and salt, then mix in powdered sugar gradually.
  11. Drizzle in cold heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  12. Frost cookies and sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles before serving.
  13. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened for easier mixing. For longer storage, freeze cookies for up to three months.
