Ingredients

- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional: fruit preserves or fresh fruit for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares.
- In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the corners of the pastry toward the center and pinch to seal.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly, then add fruit preserves or fresh fruit on top if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
For added flavor, mix in some lemon zest to the filling. Can be frozen before baking and stored for later.
