  • Red food coloring (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until combined.
  5. If using, divide the dough and add red food coloring to one portion to create a pink dough.
  6. Roll the dough into a log shape and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 120 minutes or until firm.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Slice the log into heart shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Let cool and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
